If you suffer from asthma, you know just how excruciating it can be. In addition, if it is your little one, it is equally distressing to watch.

There is relief…

Like most sufferers, you probably try to manage your asthma with inhalers and medication.

But did you know that salt therapy can provide a natural therapy for asthma alongside these traditional treatments?

With regular halotherapy, many people report less coughing, less congestion – and easier breathing. Some of our clients even tell us they don’t need to use their ventolin as often.

How halotherapy aids asthma

Halotherapy relieves congestion, inflammation and allergies of the airways.

Breathing dry salt lines the walls of your airways. This helps clear mucus, allergens and other asthma triggers.

The salt in our rooms can also thin your mucus and make it less sticky.  Therefore, it is easier for your body to expel it.

It is more than a remedy. It is an experience.

More information about asthma

Asthma is a chronic lung condition that makes breathing difficult. An asthma attack occurs when your airways inflame – making it difficult to carry oxygen to your lungs.

This results in asthma symptoms of coughing, chest tightness, wheezing and shortness of breath.

While various factors cause asthma, such as a family history or premature birth, there are other forms of asthma that can affect anyone. For example, haze & change of weather can triggered asthma.

You can learn more about asthma – http://www.asthmamalaysia.org/ on the asthma malaysia website and by speaking to your doctor.

Session recommendations:

Depending on age, 10-30 sessions are recommended for long term results.  The sessions should be spaced closely with 2-3 per week.  Typically it can take 3-4 sessions to start seeing results and over 10 sessions to see consistent change.

PNEUMONIA

Pneumonia can be fatal, take care of your respiratory system.

Pneumonia a virus or bacteria have been exposed to environment or passed from other to other people. Infection have been passed between people from direct contact or inhaling droplet in the air coughing or sneezing. Pneumonia rarely caused by parasite, fungus or yeast.

It is common in elderly people and young children and some people are at higher risk of pneumonia because they have pre-existing lung diseases, poor nutrition, difficulty swallowing, chronic health problem or a immune system.

High risk on people who are smoking and people who are around tobacco smoke are at higher risk of developing pneumonia.

You will have a cough, fever or chills, difficulty breathing, low energy and poor appetite.

Sometimes people with pneumonia will worsen slowly over time and sometime a person who has a viral upper respiratory infection (Cold) will get a fever and worsening that signals the start of the secondary bacterial infection.

How halotherapy aids Pneumonia.

Halotherapy can help if you are having trouble with breathing and low oxygen levels, the salt help absorb the phlegnm and clear the lungs.

Salt kills bacteria and the dry micro particles of salt that are inhaled during a therapy session to destroy bacteria and reduce inflammation.

Halotherapy also help to reduce a cough and help to increased immune system which they are anti-bacterial from to get any infections and reduce the taking of medications.

More information about pneumonia.

The most common cause of pneumonia, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), is transmitted through droplets that contain viral particles; these are exhaled into the air by breathing, coughing, or sneezing.

These droplets can be carried on the hands, where they survive and can spread infection for several hours.

If someone with RSV on his or her hands touches a child’s eye, nose, or mouth, the virus can infect the child. Adults infected with RSV can easily transmit the virus to the child.

CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASES (COPD)

Between 15%-20% of smokers develop the disease

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is preventable and treatable lung disease. A person with COPD may have obstructive bronchiolitis, emphysema, or a combination of both conditions.

The most common causes of COPD is tobacco smoke, there are several other factor that can cause or make COPD worse, including environmental exposure and genetic (inherited) risk.

Some of the causes are from heavy exposure to certain dust at work, chemical and indoor or outdoor air pollution (including wood smoke or biomass fuel can contribute to COPD but hereditary (genetic) factors probably play a role in who develops COPD.

People with COPD will feelings short of breath while resting or when doing physical activity, cough, wheezing, fatigue, and mucus production that does not go away easily.

How halotherapy aids COPD

Halotherapy can help reduce swelling in the airways because the salt are anti-bacterial and anti-inflammation.

Salt kills bacteria and the dry micro particles of salt that is inhale during a therapy session to destroy bacteria and reduce inflammation.

Halotherapy also help absorb the mucus and help clear mucus in the lungs, allergens and other COPD trigger.

More information about COPD

The most common cause of COPD is because of inflammation and swelling inside of the breathing tubes (airways) to be smaller than normal. The narrowing interferes with how well and how easily air empties out of the lungs (expiration).

The combination of emphysema and bronchial that lead to COPD cause the walls of the air sacs (alveoli) of the lungs are damage and lose their stretchiness and contribute to narrowing of the airways. This lead air to become trap in the lungs “air trapping” or the inability to exhale, leads to abnormal expansion or hyperinflation of the lungs.

COPD will make trapped air in the lungs combine with the extra effort needed to breathe results in a person feeling short of breath.

CYSTIC FIBROSIS

Genetic Disease that is deadly

Cystic fibrosis is the common fatal genetic (inherited) disease s when a person inherits a mutated (abnormal) copy of the CFTR (cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator) gene from each parents.

Cystic fibrosis also can cause severe damage to the lungs, digestive system and other organs in the body.

Cystic fibrosis affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat and digestive juices. These fluid are normally thin and slippery. But people with cystic fibrosis is a defective gene cause the secretion to become sticky and thick and the secretions plug up tubes, ducts and passageways in the lungs and pancreas.

People with cystic fibrosis will having a persistent cough that produces thick mucus (sputum), wheezing sounds, repeated lung infections, inflamed nasal passages or a stuffy nose and recurrent sinusitis.

How halotherapy aids COPD

Halotherapy can help removing and looseing mucus from the lungs.

Halotherapy can help preventing and controlling infections that occurs in the lungs.

Halotherapy are anti-bacterial and anti-inflammation that can prevent any infection that come into lungs.

More information about Cystic fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis will damage airways (bronchiectasis) causes of bronchiectasis, a chronic lung condition with abnormal widening and scarring of the airways (bronchial tubes). It’s harder to move air in and out of the lungs and clear mucus from the bronchial tubes.

Chronic infection with thick mucus in the lungs and sinuses provides an ideal breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. People with cystic fibrosis may often have sinus infections, bronchitis or pneumonia. Infection with bacteria that is resistant to antibiotics and difficult to treat is common.

SHORTNESS OF BREATH

Gasping for Air

Difficulty in breathing (also known as shortness of breath, breathlessness, or dyspnea) is caused by various mechanisms related to different problems in the body. In one’s lifetime, one may experience rare episodes of shortness of breath as part of high levels of activity like exhaustive exertion, or during environmental conditions such as high altitude or very warm or cold temperatures.

The causes of short of breath is because of lungs problem such as bronchitis or pneumonia or a prolong chronic infection such as tuberculosis (TB).

Most commonly SOB because of asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) and emphysema.

Rarely the causes of SOB due to lung cancer and other tumor and scarring and damange of lung tissue by toxins ( such as asbestosis) or by systemic illnesses (such rheumatoid arthritis).

Nervous system problems nerve and muscle disorder that affect the movement of the diaphragm may produce difficulty in breathing. Anxiety is sometimes accompanied by heavy and rapid breathing (hyperventilation). Shortness of breath usually resolves once the anxiety episode ends.

BRONCHITIS/BRONCHIOLITIS

Relief bronchitis symptoms naturally

Bronchitis/Bronchiolitis occurs when the smallest airways of the lungs get infected, becoming swollen and filled with mucus.

This blocks the flow of air, making it harder for a person to breathe. In countries with temperate climate, bronchiolitis commonly occurs in autumn and winter.

In warm countries such as Malaysia, it tends to occur during the rainy season.

This causes coughing spells that may be accompanied by phlegm and breathlessness.

There are 2 forms of bronchitis/bronchiolitis:  acute, which lasts from 1-3 weeks, and chronic, which lasts at least 3 months of the year for 2 years in a row.

Acute bronchitis is generally caused by lung infections.  Repeated attacks of acute bronchitis, which can weaken and irritate bronchial airways over time, can result in chronic bronchitis.

How halotherapy aids bronchitis

Halotherapy can bring much needed relieve and prevent frequent recurrence of symptoms.

Inhalers and prescription drugs may bring immediate relief but used in tandem with halotherapy can have a lasting effect.

Salt kills bacteria and the dry micro particles of salt that are inhaled during a therapy session to destroy bacteria and reduce inflammation.

Halotherapy also widens the airways through reducing inflammation that helps to shift mucus and reduce the chance of infection.

COLD & FLU

Beat the cold and flu

Are you struggling to fight off the cold and flu? It might be time to try halotherapy.

Give your body the support it needs to combat the cold and flu.

With regular halotherapy over several weeks, many of our clients experience relief from the common cold – and congestion.

Some of our clients even schedule regular visits before the cold and flu season (and the back-to-school/childcare period) to help boost their health and immune system.

It’s the smart step to building better health for you and your family.

How halotherapy eases cold and flu symptoms

Halotherapy is designed to relieve congested airways.

When inhaled, salt thins your mucus and makes it less sticky. So it’s easier to dislodge and expel.

Dry salt particles also gently stimulate your body’s natural cilia movement. Cilia help keep our sinuses clear of mucus and dirt. But when you inhale salt, you accelerate this process.

This results in less bad bacteria and reduced congestion.

It is more than a remedy. It is an experience.

More information about cold and flu

The common cold is a viral infectious disease of the upper respiratory system. It can be caused by hundreds of different viruses. The flu is a viral infection that affects the nose, throat and sometimes, the lungs.

Symptoms include a cough, sore throat, runny nose and fever. Good hygiene, particularly after coughing and sneezing, can help reduce the spread of cold and flu.

You can learn more about cold and fluhttps://www.babycenter.com.my/a78/common-cold at the Baby Center website and by speaking to your doctor.

Session recommendations:

7-15 sessions are recommended as a preventative routine with results lasting from 6-12 months.  Monthly integration of salt therapy to boost the immune system through stress reduction is recommended with additional visits when needed.

CROUP

Croup is a barking cough from any kind of inflammation of the larynx (voice box) that occurs in children. It is common. Several viruses may cause croup. These include parainfluenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and various influenza viruses. A young child (usually under 5 years of age) becomes unwell with what seems to be a normal ‘cold’.

The virus infection causes the lining of the airway in the child’s neck to swell, causing the airway to get narrower and making it harder to breathe. The characteristic features of croup are a harsh, barking cough and a noisy, harsh sound when breathing in. This noise is caused by air vibrating as it passes through the narrowed, inflamed larynx.

This will usually happen during the night. During the day, the child is usually, well apart from the cold. Seek medical advice if the child develops these symptoms.

Incubation period are difficult to define, but about 2–4 days. Meanwhile infectious period are shortly before the onset of symptoms and during the active stage of the disease. For exclusion period which the child should stay at home until they are feeling well. Croup usually gets better in 3–4 days. It is likely that a child with severe croup will need to stay in hospital for a short time to receive specialised medical treatment.

How halotherapy aids Croup

Halotherapy relieves congestion, inflammation and allergies of the airways.

Halotherapy can help preventing and controlling infections that occurs in the trachea.

The salt will make people relax and will help to release stress and anxiety because the function of the salt with release the ions that will make our body feel relax during therapy.

Salt therapy are anti-bacterial and anti-inflammation that can prevent any infection that affecting the trachea that child might get hoarse voice.

Salt kills bacteria and the dry micro particles of salt that are inhaled during a therapy session to destroy bacteria and reduce inflammation.

Halotherapy can help to clear up the airway and help to get enough oxygen and reduce any voice while breathing.

More information about croup.

Croup is usually caused by a viral infection, most often a parainfluenza virus.

The child may contract a virus by breathing infected respiratory droplets coughed or sneezed into the air. Virus particles in these droplets may also survive on toys and other surfaces. If your child touches a contaminated surface and then touches his or her eyes, nose or mouth, an infection may follow.

SMOKER’S COUGH

Relief smokers cough & phlegm

Having bad smoker’s cough that is present for more than 2-3 weeks can develops into a more serious condition.

At first it may be a dry cough, commonly in smokers who have not smoked for very long, but over time it usually produces phlegm.  This phlegm can be clear, white, yellow or green in color.

The airways are lined with cilia which are tiny, hair-like cells that catch toxins when air is inhaled and moves them upwards towards the mouth in order to sweep harmful substances out of the lungs.

Smoking paralyzes these cells so the cilia cannot do their job.  Toxins enter the lungs, where they settle and cause inflammation.

Cilia that are damaged or destroyed can no longer sweep harmful substances, such as dust, bacteria and viruses out of the lungs.

This leads to a build-up of mucus mixed with the foreign substances in the respiratory tract, which the body attempts to clear by coughing.

The body has an effective self-cleansing mechanism and some toxins are removed by the natural cleansing mechanism of our lungs.  But long-term smoking leads to and increased risk of developing pneumonia and acute bronchitis.

How halotherapy relief smoker’s cough

Halotherapy is a proven, safe and natural therapy to help treat Smoker’s Cough.

Dry salt aerosol improves function of cilia, increasing their cleaning efficiency and ability to move mucus out of the lungs.

Dry micro particles of salt that are inhaled during a therapy session destroy bacteria and reduce inflammation.  Halotherapy also widens the airways through reducing inflammation which helps to shift mucus and reduce the chance of infection.
